Mary A. Schneider

Mary Ann Schneider, age 93, passed away peacefully in her home on September 23, 2023. Born February 21, 1930, was a lifelong resident of the Toledo area, graduating from Central Catholic High School in 1948. She worked at Owen-Illinois, American Cancer Society, and finally at Washington Local Schools for 22 years.

Mary Ann was a member of Most Blessed Sacrament Parish her entire life. She attended grade school at Most Blessed Sacrament and received all her sacraments there. Later in life she volunteered in the Parish school, and knitted hats with the ladies in the “Happy Hatters Group”. Mary Ann was very strong in her faith.

In 1953, Mary Ann married the love of her life, Louis B. Schneider. They were married for over 60 years until Louis’ passing in 2015. Together they raised three children. Mary Ann loved her children dearly, and they will always remember the close relationship built through frequent conversation about everyday challenges and accomplishments. She enjoyed baking for family, friends, and hospitality at church, and would often share special recipes she created.

Mary Ann is preceded in death by her husband, Louis; sister, Freda; brother, Sigmund; and brother-in-law, John Soldner. She is survived by her children, Mary (John) Lyons, Paul (Rebecca) Schneider, and Andrew (Tina) Schneider; sister, Elizabeth Soldner; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Willinger, Barbara Schneider, and Rosemarie (James) Fleitz, 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Mary Ann’s family would like to thank Arista Home Care Solutions, caregivers and drivers for helping to take care of their mom for the past 4 ½ years, and the staff and nurses at DaVita Dialysis on Flower Hospital campus for looking after her too.

Family and friends are invited to visit at the Walker Funeral Home (5155 W. Sylvania Ave.) from 2 pm – 8 pm on Thursday, September 28, with a Rosary service beginning at 7 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, September 29, at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church at 11 am with a private interment at Resurrection Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Most Blessed Sacrament Parish or Heartbeat of Toledo.
