Mary Alice "Alice" (Eckel) Sadowski, 92, of Perrysburg, Ohio, affectionately known as Mom, Grandma and GG to those who loved her, passed away peacefully at her home on February 14, 2023. Alice was born on September 26, 1930, to Frank and Florence (Dreps) Eckel, but she would have said her life truly began the day she married the love of her life, Frank Sadowski, of Poughkeepsie NY, on February 3, 1951, at St. Rose Catholic Church. Frank and Alice’s love story was cemented brick by brick into the foundation of her family. Together, they shared 57 years and four children before Franks’ passing in 2008. From their first introduction until their last breath, their love transcended time, space, and the generations it created.
Alice lived a life engulfed in memories and simple moments shared with her family. She loved a lot of things. The challenge of a good puzzle, the family heckling that would erupt during an intense game of euchre, the joy of beating her kids in a round of dice, the taste of homemade pierogi no matter the time of day, the delight being a GG brought, and the sound of laughter that always filled her home when family came to visit, but most of all, she loved the time she spent with each of her loved ones.
She was kind, witty, outspoken, strong, resilient, courageous, caring and bold. She will be remembered for the comfort her presence brought to those around her, for the endless support she provided to her children, for the wonder she nurtured in her grandchildren, for the magic touch she always had with her great grandchildren, and for the love she inspired in her family through the thousands of small moments shared over a lifetime.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Frank (Deb) Sadowski, Mona (Jim) Kennedy, Sue Wolfe, Steve (Therese) Sadowski, grandchildren Scott (Nadine) Lautzenheiser, Frank (Kelly) Sadowski, Chris (Lisa) Sadowski, Sean (Tracie) Lautzenheiser, Matt (Stephanie)Sadowski, Steve (Keeley) Sadowski, Jackie (Kyle) Schilkey, Jason (Keri) Sadowski, Jim (Meredith) Wolfe, Jordyn (Justin) Craft and 18 great grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her parents Frank and Florence Eckel, Husband Frank Sadowski, Siblings, Ruth McDowell, Harold Eckel, Floyd Eckel, Carl Eckel, Florence Pinkelman, Gladys Destatte, Eugene Eckel, Donald Eckel, Paul E. Eckel, and son in law Jim Wolfe.
Alice was a 1949 Graduate of Perrysburg High School and following graduation devoted her life to raising her children and caring for loved ones. The family would like to thank Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their love and guidance over the past month.
