Mary Louise Reyes

Mary Louise Reyes, age 76, of Maumee, OH passed away peacefully, surrounded by her entire family on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at St. Lukes Hospital. Mary Lu was born in Toledo on August 27, 1937 to Edwin Robert and Erma Faye Van Atta Samsey. She was a graduate of Libbey High School in 1955, Toledo and Flower Hospital School of Nursing in 1958. Mary Lu was dedicated and loved her job working nights in the CDC unit as a chemical dependency nurse at Flower Hospital/Lake Park Memorial Hospital. She volunteered her time and skills with the American Red Cross to help those displaced by hurricanes in the Tampa, Florida area. She enjoyed church activities, arts and crafts, knitting and especially flower arranging. Mary Lu loved deeply and was devoted to her entire family. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Baltazar Bart Reyes; children, Brian Amy Reyes of Ypsilanti, MI; Mary Beth David Woodyard of Bexley, OH; Robert Kathie Reyes of Whitehouse, OH and Michael Jeremy Ramey Reyes of Chicago, IL. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; 2 nephews and 3 nieces. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Lt. Col. Phillip Samsey. Family and friends will be received at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home 501 Conant St., Maumee, on Monday November 25, 2013 from 10:00 am until prayers begin at 12:30 pm. A Memorial Mass will follow at 1:00 pm at St. Josephs Catholic Church, Maumee. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the American Red Cross: Philippine Typhoon Relief Fund.
