Mary Ann Renda

Mary Ann Mitch Renda, 81, of Sylvania, died November 21, 2011 at Ebeid Hospice Residence in Sylvania. Mary Ann was born March 24, 1930 in Windsor, Ontario to the late Michael and Kathleen Quinlan Mitchell. She married her best friend and partner since the third grade, Carl J. Renda, on February 7, 1953 and he preceded her in death on October 5, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her brother, James. A lady of intelligence and class, Mary Ann graduated in 1948 from St. Joseph High School in Windsor and in 1951 from the Hotel Dieu Hospital School of Nursing. On her 54th birthday, she graduated cum laude from the University of Toledo with a Bachelors degree in education. Mary Ann was a school nurse for Toledo Public Schools at Maumee Valley C.D. for 20 years, retiring in 1994. Mary Ann was a member of Christ the King Parish in Toledo and the National, Ohio and Northwest Ohio Associations of School Nurses. Her family was most important to her and she found her greatest joy in caring for her husband, children and grandchildren. She will be remembered by those who knew her for her natural instinct to be a nurturing and loving person. Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved children, Michael Susan Renda, Patti Jim Holt and John Donna Renda; grandchildren, Matthew, Carl, Emily, Shawn, Patrick, Joseph, Daniel, and Katie; and many dear friends. Visitation will be Friday from 4-8 p.m. in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Avenue west of Corey Rd. with a scripture service beginning at 7 p.m. Funeral services will begin in the funeral home on Saturday, November 26, 2011 with prayers at 9:30 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:00 a.m. in Christ the King Catholic Church.
