Mary Rita Pierson

Mary Rita Pierson, 92, of Toledo, passed away peacefully, rejoining her beloved husband, Edgar, on Thursday, April 27, 2023, with her loving family by her side. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and best friend of anyone who knew her. She gave the words love for her family and all, a whole new meaning. Our loss is absolutely heaven’s gain. She was born May 16, 1930, to Mary (Barrett) And Leo Galow in Columbus Ohio. She was a 1947 graduate of Central Catholic High School. She married her love Edgar on September 3,1950. She worked as a banker for 17 years, caterer, and full-time mom and homemaker. She and dad had 5 children together.

She was preceded in death by her son, Doug, and husband, Edgar. Left to always cherish her memory are her children, Jenny (Don) Harmon, Denise VanDeilen, Steve Pierson, Diane (Joe) Pokrywka; 13 Grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandson.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, from 4-7 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Avenue, Toledo, OH 43623. Visitation will continue Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at Most Blessed Sacrament Parish, 2240 Castlewood Drive, Toledo, OH 43613, at 10 a.m., where a Funeral Mass will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ebeid Hospice, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
