Mary Patricia Moor

Mary Patricia Moor, age 82, of Toledo, passed away June 18, 2022, in the care of her loving family. She was born September 7, 1939, in Toledo to the late Thomas and Rosemary (Thorlough) Carroll. Mary Pat attended Rosary Cathedral School and then graduated from St. Ursula Academy in 1957. She went on to the University of Toledo, earning her degree in education in 1961 as a member of the Tri-Delta Sorority. Later she went on to receive her Master’s in education. Mary Pat was a devoted and passionate teacher in the Washington Local Schools for more than 20 years where she enriched the lives of her students and fellow teachers.

In 1961, she married John Hunt “Jack” Moor, Jr., the love of her life for 52 years. Together they raised three wonderful daughters. John and Mary Pat enjoyed summers at Lake Erie, water skiing, golf, tennis, boating, and winters in Vero Beach, FL. She loved and cherished spending time with her family, especially reading to her grandchildren, attending their events, and taking long beach walks to collect sea glass and shells. She was fiercely loyal to her family and passionate about getting them together for meals and holidays. Mary Pat will be fondly remembered for her strength, keen mind, and heartfelt kindness to everyone she met.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Toni (Chris) Kelly of Toledo, Kristin (Mike) Masterson of Cincinnati, and Theresa “Tess” (Ricardo) Soto of Mill Valley, Calif.; grandchildren, John and Tom Yaggi (Sydney), Clare, Erin and Maggie (Chris) Kelly, Katherine and Sean Masterson, and Sophia and Cole Soto; great grandson, Jack Yaggi; and her second husband, Donald Balthaser. Mary Pat was preceded in death by siblings, Margie, Jack, Thomas, William, and James Carroll, and Dorothy McGurk.

The family will be receiving guests from 4-6 p.m., Tuesday, June 28, 2022, in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave (west of Corey Rd.) with prayers at 5:45 p.m. Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at Gesu Catholic Church, 2049 Parkside Blvd, Toledo, with additional visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Mary Pat will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband at Calvary Cemetery.
