With sadness and relief, our mothers struggle with Alzheimers ended. She passed away at the Goerlich Center on January 3, 2015. She was born October 20, 1931 in Toledo to Norman and Esther Rossbach. She was a 1949 graduate of Whitney Vocational High School. She married Albert Metzger on July 2, 1949 and they were married for 60 years. Her retirement years were spent with her husband, Al between Clark Lake, MI and Arcadia, FL where they became interested in crafting very detailed miniature doll houses. She was also known for her skills with a needle and thread; she hand embroidered dozens of Christmas stockings and birth samplers. The doll clothes she stitched were lovingly crafted on the outside as well as on the inside. In her later years she resided at Kingston of Sylvania where she was known as the dancer for 4 years. Her last month was spent with the caring staff of the Goerlich Center. The family would like to extend their thanks to the nurses and aides at both residences for their tireless efforts to comfort our mother. The widow of Al Metzger who died in 2009, she is also preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law John Cook. Surviving are her children Diane Cook, Patty (Tom) Lammers, Carol (Rick) Toth, Jim (Carol) Metzger and Marianne (Gary) Tarsha; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister Evelyn (Bill) Ritson; and brother Bob Rossbach. There will be no visitation and services will be private. The family suggests memorials to the Northwest Ohio Chapter of the Alzheimers Association, 2500 N. Reynolds Rd. Toledo, Ohio 43615.
