Mary Macko, 83, of Port Clinton, OH, passed away, Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Edgewood Manor Nursing Home, Port Clinton. Mary was born on June 2, 1931 in Genoa, OH, the daughter of John and Elizabeth Vrotsos. She graduated from Clay-Genoa High School in 1949. On June 14, 1952 she married John “Yano” Macko at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Port Clinton and he preceded her in death on March 26, 1996. In 1972 they moved to Morrow, GA, where John was transferred from Uniroyal. They lived there for 24 years. Mary returned to Port Clinton after John’s death. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and was a charter member of the Ave Maria Study Club, which has been in existence for over 50 years. Mary worked as a dispatcher for the Port Clinton Police Dept; a secretary at Vacationland, Erie Army Depot and Uniroyal. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #113 and the Moose Club Chapter 281. Mary loved life and especially enjoyed the Port Clinton Senior Center, bingo and playing cards. Survivors include: Sons: David Macko of Hiram, GA and Donnie (Donna) Macko of Orlando, FL; Daughter: Debbie (Michael) Marks of Jonesboro, GA; 8 Grandchildren; 7 Great-Grandchildren; Sister: Elizabeth Patchett, Special Niece Nephew: Cathy (Jerry) Davenport; Brothers-in-Law: Emery (Jeanne) Macko and Tom (Kendra) Macko; Sister-in-Law: Darlene Macko and many loving nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Nick John Vrotsos, grandsons: Jason Marks John-Paul Macko, brothers-in-law: Peter Macko Tom Patchett Sr. and nephew: Tom Patchett Jr. Mary generously donated her body to the University of Toledo Medical Center, improve and save the lives of others.
