Mary MacDonald, a long-time resident of Perrysburg, died on Thursday October 11, 2012 at Heartland of Perrysburg. Born in 1912, Mary was born to Frank and Jacqueline Arsenault Bernard, she was 100 years old. After the death of her mother, she was raised in Maine by her step-mother ZelicaGallant and father Frank. Mary moved to New York in 1929, to get her R.N. at Misericordia School of Nursing. After graduation, she married Daniel MacDonald, originally from Antigonish, Nova Scotia, and raised a family in New York. She continued to work as a registered nurse, and joined the staff at Montefiore Medical Center in 1959. There she helped to form and head one of the first ever Hospital Utilization Review Committees. She moved to Florida upon retirement in the 1970s and came to Ohio in the 90s, living at Perrysburg Common. Mary is preceded in death by her husband Daniel, son, Donald MacDonald, brothers, Joseph and John, sisters, Eva and Louise. She is survived by her son, John MacDonald, of New York City, daughter-in-law, Barbara MacDonald of Toledo, grandson, Daniel Dianna MacDonald of Waterville, Ohio, granddaughters, SusanMason Brommer of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Laura Ron Mills of Jamestown, North Carolina, six great grandchildren, Kurt, Alex, and Eric Brommer, Daniel and Elizabeth MacDonald, and Samuel Mills.
