Mary Lonseth-Sauer

August 28, 1928 — June 16, 2012

Mary C. Lonseth-Sauer, age 83 of Ottawa Hills, Ohio died at the Toledo Hospital on June 16, 2012 of cancer. Surrounded by her family, Marys death was very sudden and unexpected. Born in Peoria, IL., Mary attended the Academy of Our Lady, Class of 1946 and then went to Bradley University. She married Robert Lonsethdeceased and moved to Sylvania, Ohio in 1967. Mary has five children, Laura Satchewell Mark of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Maureen Rohrs William of Severna Park, Maryland, Kevin Lonseth Cindi of Whitehouse, Ohio, Julie Lonseth of Seminole, Florida, and Christina Haack Keith of Sylvania, Ohio, twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was remarried to Jack Sauer, a high school friend that she was reacquainted with at a class reunion. They had been married almost 10 years. Jack was her best friend; they enjoyed family, theater, travel and many friends including all their friends at GBU. Professionally, Mary was a sales executive for the Commodore Perry Motor Inn, Associated Motor Inns which owned 4 hotels in Toledo, Ken Shaw Theater Productions and was a long time sales manager at the Westgate Dinner Theater. She created a package that included a hotel stay, fine dining, local attractions and live entertainment in Toledo and other cities. Her and her staff then sold the package to convention and tour groups. In 1982 she founded Marys Enterprises Theater Services, which has presented over 150 national concerts and major artists at the Toledo Stranahan Theater along with many other venues in Toledo, Florida, Michigan and the Carolinas. Her company has brought tens-of-thousands of tourists to Toledo over her close to 40 years of promoting the city with her shows and Toledos other attractions. Mary was known by many visitors as Toledo Mary. The company which long ago diversified into group travel management and global special events, has taken many of the artists and shows that appeared on the Stranahan stage and presented them nationally, on cruise ships and in theaters in Europe. The company has a solid foundation and an exciting future, with many long-time executive staff including her sonwho has worked with Mary for 30 years. Mary has booked an exciting national theater season for Ohio and Florida through 2013. She was in her office just a few days ago working on other artist presentations and promotions. Mary has been honored with several business articles in the Toledo Blade and proclamations from Toledo Mayors and City Councils. Marys article in the Toledo Blade last year highlighted her life and show-business. In the article, she was working on a show date for Tim Conway at the Stranahan Theater. That was another successfulpresentation and Tim loves her pies. Mary will be missed by entertainers, agents and hospitality colleagues who loved her warmth and home-made pies. But she will be missed more by Jack and her daughters, son, their children and her long time staff. When you see many tour buses in the city please think of and thank Toledo Mary. A memorial mass will be held at St. Pius X Church at 3011 Carskaddon Drive, Toledo, OH 43606 on Friday, June 22, at 10:30AM followed by a reception at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Toledo Salvation Army or to the donors choice. The family would like to thank all the caring nurses at the Toledo Hospital and Marys physicians. Online condolences may be made at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com
