Mary Ann Kohl, 95, of Perrysburg, passed away at Birchaven Nursing Home in Findlay on September 4, 2025 peacefully in her sleep. Born to the late Mildred (Kovacik) and Rudolf Cepko on Feb 2, 1930 in Rossford Ohio. Mary Ann graduated from Rossford High School, then was employed by Ohio Bell as a telephone operator manager. She loved being a competitive pitcher for their softball team. She was happily married to Robert Kohl for over 69 years until his passing on Nov. 17, 2024.
Mary Ann is survived by her children; Jeffrey Kohl and his children Kristin and Brian Kohl, and daughter Debbie (Dr Bruce) Kohl-Bouts and her children Alexa Bouts (Nate Sell) and Keith Bouts. She is preceded in death by sister Irene (Cepko) Repka and survived by siblings Robert Cepko, Rudy Cepko Jr (Mary), and Helen (Cepko) Warns, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Mary Ann was a people person. She loved engaging conversations and had a vivacious sense of humor. Laughter was her love language, and she truly enjoyed being with others. Dubbed “Giggles” at her Florida residence, she left smiles wherever she was. Her infectious personality always left people with joy and happiness.
She was a wonderful cook/baker with an extensive collection of cookbooks, always trying something new after mastering her tried and true. Being a farm wife, she was wonderful at using all the fruits and vegetables they raised by canning, freezing, baking pies, cakes, and cookies. She was always quick to share her efforts to warm your soul. She also loved her flower gardens, and had a large variety of flowers, shrubs, and gourds that were colorful and beautiful to behold.
Mary Ann was someone who treasured her family. Fiercely protective, encouraging higher training and education, and promoting her children/grandchildren to be the best one could be. Family gatherings were always lively, fun, full of food, entertaining, and usually with a card game.
An extensive traveler, she loved exploring new places, people and their way of life. She was always up for an adventure but never the navigator. Hearing of others’ travels had her enthralled and always curious to learn more.
A supporter of her children’s hobbies, she was an active Brownie leader, Den leader, Band Booster, and Toledo Flamingo Club Board member. She was always there to attend numerous programs, games and other events cheering loudly and proudly beaming.
A passion for shopping was a well-planned experience. Scouring sales ads to get the best deals and felt like she found the treasure chest when she accomplished her task. She loved sharing the experience and her findings with others.
A devout Catholic, she was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church and faithfully attended Masses in every corner of the world she roamed. She also worked for the local Board of Elections for years.
