Mary H. Koder

Mary left us on July 31, 2017 to be in a greater place. She was born on September 21, 1954 to Jim and Pat Spychala. Mary spent her first five years in Toledo, Ohio and then in 1959 her family moved to Maumee, Ohio. Mary attended St. Joseph Parochial School, Maumee High School (where she was a member of the Spanish Club and treasure of the Pep Club) and the University of Toledo where she earned a Bachelors Degree in Education. Mary taught at mostly inner city schools during her teaching career and was a member of the Future Teachers of America. During her early years she enjoyed playing volleyball and golf and later enjoyed couponing and cross stitching Mary is survived by her loving daughters, Elizabeth (Grant) Grohowski and Amanda Koder; granddaughters, Isis Jean and Myra Pacelli; mother, Patricia Spychala; brothers, Edward, Raymond, neices, Raychel and Erin; brother, James Jr.(Donna); nephew, Jimmy, sister, Patricia P.R. Spychala; godmother and aunt, Juanita Skoczen; ex-husband, Ted Koder and mother-in-law, Rachel Knect and family. She was peceded in death by her father, James R. Spychala Sr.; grandparents, Martin and Helen (Losek) Spychala and Frank and Mary Doyle; uncles Mike (Dorothy) Spychala, James Doyle; nine great uncles and aunts, many cousins and pets Padme and Chew Chew Visitation will be held from 2-8 pm on Monday, August 7, 2017 at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, Ohio. with the Rosary to be recited at 7 pm Prayers will begin at the funeral home at 9:15 am on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 with the funeral mass to follow at 10 am at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Catholic Church, Toledo, Ohio. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Maumee, Ohio.
