Mary Lou Karl nee Storar, 91, of Elmore and formerly of Findlay, OH, and Johnstown, PA, died Saturday, February 22, 2014, in Riverview Healthcare Campus, Oak Harbor. Mary Lou was born February 27, 1922, in Johnstown, PA. She was a 1940 graduate of Johnstown High School and attended Ashland University. On September 4, 1941, in Johnstown, PA, she married Edward Dempsey Karl, who preceded her in death on September 27, 1979. Mary Lou was a homemaker and had 38 wonderful years of marriage to Edward. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Elmore. She was very active throughout her life volunteering: Friendly Center, Ottawa County Food Pantry and various churches and organizations. Mary Lou was a political enthusiast and was a long-time member of the Eastern Stars and Rebeccas. She enjoyed creating beautiful ceramics. She is survived by her children, Deb Larry Honsberger Schack of Elmore, Edward Douglas Brenda Karl of Lakemore, OH, and Keith Dempsey Karl of Findlay; five grandchildren, whom she adored, Rustun, Andrew Jheanne and Todd Brianna Schack, and Jessica and Natalie Matt Karl; six great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Dora Griffith of Florida. Her mother, Mary Margaret Cunningham Griffith, father, John Huston Storar, brother, Raymond Griffith, and daughter-in-law, Juanita Karl preceded her in death. Private services and burial will take place in Grandview Cemetery, Johnstown, PA. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Riverview for making Mary Lou feel at home with comfort and care, especially Station 6. And in a special way thank Chaplin Brenda from Stein Hospice for her prayerful spirit. Memorials may be directed to Riverview Healthcare Campus Aux., 8180 W. St.Rt. 163, Oak Harbor, OH 43449 or to Stein Hospice, 1200 N. Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870. The Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory of Genoa has assisted the family with arrangements.
