M.C. Hesselbart of Curtice, Ohio, formerly of Genoa, passed away early in the morning on Thursday, January 5, 2017, at the home of her daughter. M.C. was born August 14, 1923, in Columbus Grove, Ohio, to Ray P. and Elsie M. (Bogart) Hartman. In Columbus Grove she married Roger C. Mary Charlotte, known to everyone as M.C., began her career as a registered nurse after graduating from Toledo Hospital School of Nursing in 1944, where she was also a nursing instructor. In 1951 she and her husband opened the R R Shoe Company, which later became the Yankee Pedlar Clothing Store in 1964, closing in 1991. M.C. was very active in the community. She was a lifelong member of the American Red Cross. She was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ in Genoa serving as the first Childrens Choir director and active in the former Ruthenians. M.C. was a charter member of the Coterie Club of Genoa, since 1946 and a former member of the Order of Eastern Stars. M.C. is survived by her daughters, Judy (Walter Rip) Whitmore of Bradenton, FL, Joni (John) Brunkhorst of Oak Harbor and Julie (Bill) Skilliter of Curtice; her grandchildren, Cameron (Julie) Whitmore, Joe (Michelle) Brunkhorst, Carlyn (Mike) OReilly, Jenna (Brad) Britt, Blake Skilliter, Blair (Sarah) Skilliter and Brynn Skilliter; six great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Her parents, husband, and brothers, Paul and Max Hartman, preceded her in death. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to M.C.s caregivers, Janet, Lenore and Becky, whose loving care made it possible for her to stay at home with her daughters family-a special thank-you to Sharon Blausey for her care and devotion that she lovingly provided to M.C. for seven years.
