Mary Ann Gorka

Mary Ann Gorka, 72, of Perrysburg was called home to eternal rest on Saturday March 4th, 2023. Her family, her friends, and the world lost a great light as heaven received home a faithful saint.

Born September 20, 1950 in Lincoln, NE to Henry and Mollie Blitz. She married her husband Stephen T. Gorka, Jr. on August 9, 1975. She was kind, a good neighbor and friend, loyal, a cherished preschool teacher, sensitive, full of spunk and joy, an incredible mom, a doting grandma, a beloved cousin, a devoted wife, optimistic even in the most dire circumstances, and a faithful servant of the Lord. She was dedicated to her bunco group, book club, bowling league, and faithfully served for more than 30 years with Trinity’s children’s ministry.

While loved ones grieve her loss here on earth we are comforted in the promise of Jesus that because He lives, she will live also. She is free from the restraints of this life and broken human form. She is dancing with the angels, and those who preceded her in death: her parents Henry and Mollie Blitz of Lincoln, NE; son Michael A. Gorka of Perrysburg, OH; and husband Stephen T. Gorka, Jr. of Perrysburg, OH. She is survived by her children David E. Gorka of Ypsilanti, MI, Stephanie L. (Joshua) Hoopingarner of Wake Forest, NC, and Katherine A. Gorka of Casa Grande, AZ, and five grandchildren.

Friends will be received on Friday, March 10th at 10:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 4560 Glendale Ave, Toledo, OH with a funeral service to follow at 11am. Memorial contributions in Mary’s name can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church children’s ministry or the American Cancer Society.
