Mary Geraldine Vogel

Mary “Jerry” Vogel January 6, 1934 - December 29, 2015 Jerry (Dougherty) Vogel, age 81, of Perrysburg, Ohio passed away at Hospice of Northwest Ohio on December 29, 2015. Jerry was born in Grafton, West Virginia on January 6, 1934. She was the youngest of fifteen children born to John and Velma (Eyler) Dougherty. On November 23, 1952 she married John D. Vogel in Grafton, WV, who preceded her in death in 1977. Jerry worked for 27 years at National Machinery in Tiffin, Ohio. Upon retirement she moved to Perrysburg, Ohio were she has spent the past two decades enjoying friends and family. Jerry delighted in spending her time visiting, shopping, baking, crocheting, knitting, and crafting with those that she loved. Jerry adored being a granny and G.G., always telling everyone, “love you most!” Jerry is survived by her daughter Mary (Mike) Bentz, son George (Therese) Vogel, and son-in-law John (Patricia) Tripp; grandchildren Michael and Dan Tripp, Mandie Bentz and Lissa (Tim) Ramirez, and Johnny, Alex, and Zach Vogel; great-grandchildren Jennifer and Lexi Ramirez; and her brother Bob (Diane) Dougherty. Jerry is preceded in death by her husband John Vogel; son James Vogel and daughter Detta Tripp; parents; two brothers, John and Tom Dougherty; and eleven sisters, Madeleine Fletcher, Mary Ellen Mahaffey, Margaret Jenkins, Bernadine Waters, Catherine Menear, Grace Rogers, Theresa McDaniel, Ruth Dougherty, June Lee Dougherty, Patricia Hyett, and Helenamae Baugh. The family wishes to thank Hospice of Northwest Ohio and The Waterford at Levis Commons for their loving care and support. Family and friends will be received on Saturday, January 2, 2016 from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. in the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary in Perrysburg (419-874-3133), with a celebration of life service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
