Mary Ellen Anderson

Mary Ellen Anderson, 88, of Genoa, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Mercy-St. Charles Hospital, Oregon, Ohio after a brief illness. She was born in Wells, Texas on February 6, 1933, to Orville and Irene (Miller) Bruce. Mary married Carl R. Anderson in Fort Worth, Texas on January 21, 1953, and they spent many happy years together until his death on November 29, 2004.

Mary was a homemaker who took pride in taking after her family. She enjoyed cooking and was always eager to try a new recipe, even as she got older, she encouraged her daughters to try a new recipe she found! Working with her hands was a talent that came naturally as she worked on crafts, sewing and her long running crocheting project. Throughout her life she and her husband liked to travel around the continental United States, Canada, Alaska, and Hawaii. Mary also looked forward to trying her luck at any nearby casino! In her later years she could often be found reading books on history or ghost stories and watching classic movies with her favorite Hollywood stars.

Mary is survived by her daughters Mary “Denise” Anderson, Carla Jean Anderson, Jo Ann Miller, and Mary Altman, eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and brother, Ovid Bruce. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Carl, daughter, Matea I. Anderson, son, Richard G. Anderson, and sister, Betty Patterson.

Visitation for Mary will be held from 2:00-4:00 PM on Friday, February 11, 2022, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St. Genoa, Ohio.
