Mary L. Coleman

October 26, 1937 — March 12, 2008

Mary L. Sammie Coleman, age 70 passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 12, 2008 after a long courageous battle with cancer. The daughter of Glenn and Virginia Estes, she was born Oct. 26, 1937 in Toledo. Sammie was a graduate of Libbey High School and in 1974 relocated to Chicago. She was very active in the American Cancer Society and deeply involved with the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Family and friends marveled at Sammies extensive shoe collection, her love of life, and dancing. She was always family oriented and the true light of her life was her grandsons. She is survived by her husband, Ronald; daughter, Terri Veselka; grandsons, John Lisa Hayes Veselka and Nicholas J. Veselka; step-son, Matthew Coleman; sister Glynna Mae Dugger; and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Richard Estes. There will be no visitation. A gathering will be held Sunday, March 16, 2008 at the Walker Funeral Home 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. from 1:00 PM-2:00 PM with a memorial service at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
