Mary Jane Carpenter, 86 of Toledo, died on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at The Waterford at Levis Commons, Perrysburg, OH. She was born on January 5, 1930 to Michael and Josephine (D’Angelo) Gliatti in Toledo, OH. Mary Jane was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She devoted herself to raising a very loving family while pursuing a full and diverse career in the process. Early in her career, she was the manager for the Cotton Shop in downtown Toledo, and the administrative assistant and logistics manager with the L.W. Chuck Co. Throughout the years, she also worked for the Toledo Board of Education, was a dispatcher for the Roadway Trucking Co., was co-owner of Corrine’s Dance Studio, as well as, a successful travel agent and realtor. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, the ALBA (Italian-American) Club, and the Point Place Business Association. She was an avid card player at the Point Place Senior Center, and met routinely over the decades with her high school girl friends in a high spirited card club. She loved vacationing in Florida with her husband, and most especially, spending time with her family and friends. She not only cared passionately for those she loved, but also had the amazing gift to meet new people and make them feel instantly like friends. She will be deeply missed by all the lives she lovingly touched. Mary Jane is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Richard Carpenter Sr.; sister, Carmen and brother-in-law, Joseph Claus. She is survived by her loving children, Richard (Patty O’Shea) Carpenter Jr. and Corrine (Jeff) Sharrit; grandchildren, Spencer (Gabrielle) Sharrit, Benjamin (Jennifer) Carpenter, Sara (Tony) Creasy, Jeremy (Melissa) Carpenter and Cory (Jenna) Carpenter; great grandchildren, Lucas, Noah, Katie, Anna, Ivy, Claire and Sam; brother, Edward (Anne) Gliatti; sister, Sharon (Robert) Zeberkiewicz; nieces, nephews and other close friends. Family and friends may call at the Hoeflinger-Bolander Funeral Home (3500 Navarre Ave. Oregon, OH), Saturday, January 16, 2016 from 12:00 pm where memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm.
