Mary Pat Burnard

Mary Pat Burnard (Teiper), AKA Dinky or the 'Dinkweed', left this life peacefully on Monday, October 3rd.

Severe health issues took her 9 days before her 70th birthday at Flower Hospital in Sylvania, OH. She is survived by daughter Adrienne (Addi) Burnard, and grandchildren Nevaeh Conklin and Braxton Henning. Her extended family include Lori Burnard, Anthony Wulf, Chris Wulf, and Lyndsie Wells.

Born in Gross Pointe Woods, MI to Patricia & Richard Teiper, Mary Pat had 5 siblings- Stephen, Richard, Michael & James.

She graduated from Notre Dame HS in Toledo, OH, and attended the University of Toledo, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Mary Pat had 2 children, Megan Marie and Adrienne Greer, and went on to earn a Master of Education (M.Ed.) from UT and became an Intervention Specialist working with developmentally handicapped students.

Mary Pat found her home at Waite HS where she taught special needs students for 16 years.

All along her journey, Dinky spread smiles and laughter. The kind of laughter that extended out until everyone's day was just a little bit brighter. She was always the most joyous when helping others- however she could. It could be something as simple as balloon and pizza parties for her students- 'just because'! Or it could be as amazing as being a chaperone to Washington, DC where her student bell choir performed for important Heads of State.

If you needed help, Dinkweed would be there. And, boy! Did she like to have fun! From the endless party favor humor to the goofiest Halloween costumes, she touched our hearts and made us better. Thanks, Dink! You Nutball!! You were so special. We're going to miss you more than words allow.

Visitation will be held Monday, October 9th, from 4-7 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Avenue, Toledo, OH. A service will begin at 7 p.m. at the funeral home, followed by a wake at Backstage Eats, 5680 Mayberry Square, Sylvania OH.
