Mary K. Appelhans Browne died September 20, 2016, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was born in Perrysburg, Ohio, on May 21, 1930. Mary raised her family in Toledo, Ohio, and in later years lived in Los Alamos, New Mexico, and Las Vegas, Nevada. She was a graduate of Mary Manse College, Toledo, Ohio. She was an English teacher and a retired field agent for the U.S. Treasury Department. Her hobbies were reading, golfing, and traveling. Her volunteer work included the Read for Literacy Program. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Jacob J. Appelhans, Sr., an infant son Appelhans and her late husband, Dr. Charles L. Browne. Also preceding her in death are her parents, George and Katherine Brown and eight brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children, Jacob J. Appelhans (Carol) of St. James City, Florida, Jeanne M. Schmidlin (Tim) of Kent, Ohio, and Joanne K. Appelhans of Pahrump, Nevada, and two grandchildren, Emily and Kate Schmidlin of Kent, Ohio, and many in-laws, nieces and nephews. There will be no services and the family wishes any donations be in a form of a prayer for our mom. We will always love you, Mom, Long May You Run, Jack, Jeanne, Joanne, Emily and Kate.
