Mary K. Bortz

Mary K. (DeVaul) Bortz, 88, of Perrysburg, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Lakeland, FL. Mary was born July 9, 1928 in Liberty Center, OH to William and Sophia (Tyl) DeVaul. She married Marvin H. Bortz on August 13, 1949 and he preceded her in death on March 18, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Calvin “Chip” Dennison. Mary was a graduate of Scott High School. She was an active lady, who enjoyed time with her family and friends, especially Holidays and Celebrations. She instilled in us that there is nothing worth sharing like the love that let us share our name. She was always ready to travel, and she and Marv traveled the US as well as the world together. Mary was a 56 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she served in various stations. She was an active member of Echo Meadows Church of Christ in Oregon, OH, as well as Lake Gibson Church of Christ near her winter home in Lakeland, FL. She was a member of the Perrysburg Garden Club, as well as the Cypress Lakes Garden Club. She is survived by her son, Richard (Laura) Bortz; daughters, Kathleen Dennison of Perrysburg, Sherry (Jeffrey) Judd of Lakeland, FL, Jennifer (Dan) Garringer of Perrysburg; four grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Friends will be received Tuesday, May 2, 2017 from 3-8 P.M. at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg (419-874-3133) where an Eastern Star service will be held at 6:30 P.M. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at the funeral home at 11 A.M. with Ray Jeffers, officiating. Burial will follow in Fort Meigs Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
