Mary E. Boellner was born on June 30, 1949, along with her twin sister Martha to Anthony and Helen (Promenschenkel) Boellner, Sr. She had been a lifelong member of St. Patrick of Heatherdowns since its founding in 1957. She graduated from McAuley High School in 1967 and the University of Toledo Com Tech with a degree in Computer Programming and Bookkeeping in 1969.
Mary worked for Drigg’s Dairy (1969-1989), then for Village Farm Dairy (In & Out Mart) (1989-2013), as a bookkeeper/accountant and loved to keep track of the numbers. She finished her career working for the Law Firm of Williams, DeClark, and Tuschman. She took great care in her work and more so in bonding and creating lasting friendships with co-workers.
Mary was quite artistic, and enjoyed making greeting cards, handmade quilts, and porcelain dolls. She took great pride in making porcelain ornaments for her family at Christmastime. Mary’s family considered her claim to fame to be her homemade chocolate and pecan turtles.
Mary enjoyed being part of many clubs and activities including Toledo Sewing Guild, Maumee Senior Book Club, Stamping Up at Waterside, and Quilting at Bunker’s Retreat. She was a Board Member and Treasurer of the McAuley Alumni Association.
She enjoyed playing cards in a group consisting of cousins and friends. She met monthly with friends from the class of 67 for lunch.
Mary will fondly be remembered for her easy-going disposition and always seeming to win a card game, pinochle or euchre, or a Board game that she always played patiently with anyone who was willing to play. Most of all she will be remembered as a person who cared about her relationships with family and friends, to which she was close.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony Sr and Helen Boellner and her brothers Anthony Jr (Tony) and John. She is survived by her sisters; Martha Kleinfelter of Milford OH, Sister Joanne Mary Boellner, RSM of Maumee; nieces; Sarah Kleinfelter, of Perrysburg, and Amy Boellner, of Toledo, OH; nephews, Tim Boellner (Ann Ehrhardt) of West Chester, OH, Paul (Kira) Boellner of San Jose, CA; great-nieces, Abby Boellner of Denver Co.
