Mary Thelma Beans, 87, died peacefully in her home on Thursday, June 21, 2012. She had been lovingly cared for by family members, Sherry Sharp, Maggie Isabell and numerous health care professionals, enabling her to remain in beloved home. She was preceded in death by Frank Beans, her husband of 60 years, her mother, Sylvia Bettinger Miller, and her father, George Miller. She is survived by her children, Lesley Beans David Kasprzak, Frank Anne Beans, and William Cindy Beans, and 8 adoring grandchildren, David Chad Alisa Kasprzak, Kristin Martin, Caroline, Laura and Elizabeth Beans, Stephanie, Phillip and Geoff Beans, and a great-grandson, Barrett Martin. She is also survived by a brother, Jim Mary Miller. Thelma was born on November 15, 1924 in Toledo, OH. She attended Central Catholic High School. She then attended the Chicago Art Institute, and the Ray Vogue School of Advertising. As a commercial artist, she did fashion illustration, and print advertisements. After marrying Frank and starting her family, she taught art lessons in her home. Her passion for art lasted throughout her life, and she continued to draw and paint well into her eighties. She was a member of the Toledo Artist Club, and was a past president of the Athena Art Society. She was a member of Inverness Club, Catawba Island Club, and Toledo Country Club, and Gesu Catholic Church. The family will receive friends on Tuesday June 26, 2012, from 4-6 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 6:15pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W.
