Mary L. Bates

Mary L. Bates age 86 of Toledo, Ohio passed away Sunday, February 26, 2012. Mary was born in Belle Valley, Ohio on December 25, 1925 to Tom and Edith Carpenter. She married Robert Bates in Toledo, OH on September 17, 1942 and enjoyed 61 years of marriage. Mary was a loving mother who raised eight children. She loved to spend time walking or often could be found curled up with a good book. She is survived by her sons, Robert Betty of Toledo, OH, Dennis Sharon of Bryan, OH, and James Gayle of Toledo, OH; daughters Kathleen Bates of Toledo, OH, Debbie William Johnson of Toledo, OH and Katrina Bates of Groveport, OH, 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; sister, Lila Arlie Bates; brother, Tom Oakes; and sons, Gary and Robby. Visitation for Mary will be Friday, March 2, 2012 from 10:00 a.m - 11:00 a.m.. with funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, Maumee, Ohio.
