Mary Ann Pinkava

MARY ANN PINKAVA Mary Ann Pinkava, 88, of Perrysburg, Ohio, died Friday, February 13, 2015 at Kingston of Perrysburg. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on August 13, 1926 to Bessie (Kozumplik) and Joseph Vavrik Sr., both of whom preceded her in death. Mary Ann graduated from Lake High School and from Bowling Green State University with her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree and taught history and social studies in Toledo Public Schools. She was a longtime member of St. Rose Catholic Church and was a part of the Czech/Slovak dance group. Mary Ann married Frank J. Pinkava on June 4, 1949 in Toledo, and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Jean Karen Geisert; brothers, Joseph (Neomia) Vavrik and Emil Vavrik. Mary Ann is survived by niece, Regina (Harley) Aspacher and nephew, Greg Vavrik; and many cousins. Friends will be received from 9-11 A.M. at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg, Ohio (419-874-3133), on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 where a funeral service will take place at 11 A.M. Burial for Mary Ann will be private.
