Mary Ann Lucile Madrid, age 72, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2026. She was born on December 30, 1953, and lived a life filled with love, and devotion to her family.
Mary was a loving and caring mother and grandmother whose greatest joy came from the time she spent with her children and grandchildren. She had a truly big heart and was known for her kindness, generosity, and the way she made everyone feel welcome and cared for.
She found happiness in the simple pleasures of life, especially tending to her yard and flowers, where she took pride in creating beauty and tranquility. Mary was also a passionate sports fan, faithfully cheering on the Michigan Wolverines football, the Detroit Lions, and the Detroit Pistons. She also loved NASCAR and was a devoted fan of Dale Earnhardt, enjoying the excitement and tradition of race day.
One of her favorite pastimes was camping, especially her cherished trips to KOA Campgrounds, where she made many lasting memories with family and friends.
Mary is survived by her son, Philip Carter Jr. (Tanja); grandchildren, Jerry Willis III (Sandra), Dustin Carter (Jennifer), Brenden, Devin, and Jayden Eloff; great-grandchildren, Julian Amaya, Jordan Willis, Jerry Willis IV, Aubree and Ava Carter, and Hendrix Eloff; brother, Jack (Penny) Monroe, Tom (Holly) Monroe, Bill (Ginger) Monroe, and Bob Monroe; and sister, Cathy Savett.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Monica Monroe; daughter, Laurie Carter; granddaughter, Ashley Carter; brothers, Tim Monroe and David (Brenda) Monroe; and sister, Patricia Eichenberg.
Family and friends may visit Friday, March 27, 2026, from 4-8 pm at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. The Funeral Mass will be Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 10 am at St. Clement Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
