Mary E. Adams

Mary E. Adams, 88, of Port Clinton, OH, passed away, Wednesday, January 25, 2017at the Riverview Healthcare Campus, Oak Harbor, OH.. Mary was born on October 17, 1928 in Toledo, OH, the daughter of Paul R. and Florence T. (Tebbe) Busick. Mary graduated from Bowling Green State University in 5 years with 3 children at home at the age of 42. She was a teacher for Danbury Schools for 20 years retiring in 1991. Mary was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and a past matron of the Oak Harbor Chapter of the Eastern Stars. She was a member of the Junior Women’s Club of Oak Harbor, a longtime member of the Port Clinton Playmaker’s Civic Theatre and a member of the Port Clinton Quilt Guild. Mary played in the Lakeside Recorder Consort and sang with the Sandusky Bay Belle Adelines. She loved music and played several instruments, including the piano. Mary was an avid reader and movie buff. She won the Academy Award contest in the News Herald several times. She loved quilting and sewing. Mary will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. Those left to cherish her memory are: Daughter: Beth Hemminger-Hayes; Son: Brad (Julie) Hemminger; Grandchildren: Richard H. Hayes, Andrew Hemminger and Emily Hemminger. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, first husband: Donald H. Hemminger, second husband: Duane “Dewey” Adams and son: Bruce Hemminger. Visitation will be 3-7PM, Sunday, January 29, 2017 at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, followed by a Memorial service held at 7:00PM. Interment will be in Gibsonburg Cemetery, Gibsonburg, OH. Memorial contributions in memory of Mary may be directed to the Ottawa County Humane Society, 2424 E. Sand Rd., Port Clinton, OH 43452.
