Mary Lou Abdo Joseph

Mary Lou Abdo Joseph fell asleep in the Lord June 29, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. The daughter of Ferris and Doris Abdo, she was born March 23, 1934, in her family home in Toledo. She was a graduate of Burnham High School in Sylvania, OH and attended the University of Toledo. Mary married George C. Joseph on October 9, 1955. She was a hairdresser, owning two salons with her husband. She later was a drapery expert when she retired from the Lion Store. Mary and George continued to work together managing Travels by George providing wonderful memories for so many friends. Mary was a member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral and St. Elias Antiochian Orthodox Church. She was well known for her amazingly beautiful blue eyes and always having a home full of love and laughter. Mary loved nothing more than her family. The “Joseph Girls” were her pride and joy. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Abby (Earl) Wackenheim, Anita Joseph, Charla (Don) Akerman, Cathy (Steve) Ebejer; sister-in-law Leila Joseph Andrews; grandchildren, Christina (Matt), Joe (Rachel), Erin, Leigh, Mike; and future great grandchild “Baby A”. Mary’s loved ones welcoming her to eternal rest are her husband of over 60 years, George C. Joseph, her brother Frankie Abdo and her parents Doris Palmerton Abdo Balk and Ferris Abdo. Friends may visit the family at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral 3754 Woodley Rd. Toledo, OH 43606 on Monday July 5th from 4:00-8:00 pm with Trisagion prayers at 7:00 pm. Visitation on Tuesday, July 6th at 10:00 am at St. George with the funeral service at 11:00 am. The service will be live streamed.
