Marvin R. (Sam) Sandwisch, 77, of Port Clinton, OH, passed away, Friday, April 17, 2015 at H. B. Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton, OH. Sam was born on February 07, 1938 in Limestone, OH, the son of Ralph and Evelyn (Hess) Sandwisch. He graduated from Oak Harbor High School, Oak Harbor, OH. On June 03, 1961, in Port Clinton, OH, he married Iva Tilson and she survives. Sam worked as a finisher at Mathews Boat Co. for 18 years and as a maintenance worker for Standard Products for 18 years. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Port Clinton, OH. Sam was a past member of the Elk’s Lodge #1718, where he had served as a Tyler. He played softball in his earlier years. Sam loved shooting pool, bowling and fishing with his brothers. He was an avid fan of NASCAR, Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions and Pistons. Sam will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Survivors include: Loving Wife of 53 years: Iva Sandwisch; Daughter: Michele (Charlie) Huffman; Son: Rob (Melissa) Sandwisch; Daughter: Jodi (John) Cerbus; Grandchildren: Lauren, Brandon (Tanya), Ariel & Andrew Cerbus, Tyler, Justin & Nathan Sandwisch, Joshua & Rachel Huffman; Great-Grandchildren: Jackson and Adrienne Cerbus with another due in June; Sister-in-Law: Arlene Sandwisch and several loving Nieces & Nephews. Sam was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Ronald Sandwisch, Roger Sandwisch and sister: Janice Earl. Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8PM, Thursday, April 23, 2015 in the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Clinton, OH. Funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Bruce Batchelor-Glader at 11:00AM, Friday, April 24, 2015 in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Sam may be given to Trinity United Methodist Church or Stein Hospice.
