Martin E. Parks, Jr., 89, of Northwood, passed away early Sunday morning, September 13, 2015, at the Parkcliffe Community at Northwood. He was born in Eckman, WV, on November 24, 1925, the son of Winnie E. (Roberts) and Martin E. Parks, Sr. Martin served our country as a Corporal in the US Army during WWII and received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star while in Italy. Following the war he worked for Owens-Illinois retiring in 1985. Martin married Thelma (Horne) Parks and she passed away in 1983; he then married Phyllis J. Schimming-Plantz and she survives. Survivors include: his wife, Phyllis Parks; daughter, Janice (Robert) Thorson; step children, Jennie (David) Hodulik and Barry (Lorraine) Plantz; grandchildren, David (Janet) Thorson and Jennifer (Ted) Kosel; step grandchildren, Troy (Jennifer) Hodulik, Eric (Jan) Hodulik, Jamie (Leeca) Plantz, Jason (Tina) Plantz and Derek (Jodi) Plantz; three great grandchildren and 14 step-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, sister, Elizabeth Tunney, brother, Phillip Parks and grandson, Tommy Thorson. Memorial Services will be private at St John Lutheran Church, Williston. Inurnment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Bluefield, WV, at a later date. Memorial donations for Martin may be directed to Northwood EMS, 6000 Wales Rd., Northwood, OH 43619. Arrangements have been entrusted to Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa.
