Martin Joseph Marinelli

March 6, 1946 — April 25, 2013

Marinelli Martin Joseph Marty Papa Martin J. Marty Marinelli, age 67, passed away Thursday April 25, 2013 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. The son of John and Marge Marinelli, he was born March 6, 1946 in Toledo. He was a 1964 graduate of St. Francis De Sales High School where he won state finals in wrestling. Marty also wrestled while at the University of Toledo. He worked as a lifeguard at Centennial Quarry while attending college. He earned his bachelor degree from UT and later earned his Jurist Doctorate. He then taught 5th and 6th grade at Immaculate Conception School at Raabs corner. He enjoyed may hobbies and interests including horsemanship, sailing in which he competed in may regattas, and music as a self taught guitar player. He also renovated a 1876 farm house. Marty was co-owner of Northwood Door since 1981. His courage and perseverance during his illness were an inspiration to his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Dolly; daughter, Abigail Frank Rodden; grandchildren, Cael and Aine; sisters, Kathy John Reichow, Pat Rick Fowler, Becky Mark Delp, Grace George Flanner, Monica Michael, Mary Margaret Gene Cornell; brothers Michael, Timothy, Peter Cathy, Chris, Rodney Jennifer Marinelli; 34 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Adam in 1973 and his parents. Friends may visit the family on Tuesday from 2-9 PM at the Walker Funeral Home 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. Funeral services will begin with prayers at the funeral home on Wednesday at 10:15 AM followed by Mass of the Resurrection at 11:00 AM at the Historic Church of St. Patrick. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
