Martha Riggs

Martha Gleason-Riggs, 94, of Toledo, died Monday, January 13, 2014 at her home. She was born April 20, 1919 in Toledo to the late Henry and Martha King Walters. She was also preceded in death by husbands, Charles Gleason and Herschel Riggs; daughters, May Jo Prather and Barbara Staifer; step-son, Bud Ankney; sister, Virginia Carpenter; brother, John Walters; and grandson, Tommy Lee Lemon. Martha worked as a nurse at St. Vincents and William Roach Hospital for more than 25 years. In her free time, she enjoyed watching Lawrence Welk and old westerns, especially Bonanza and John Wayne movies. Surviving are her children, Charles Gleason, Joyce Ann Charles Lemon, Robert Gleason and Linda William Ely; 18 grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday and Friday from 2-8 p.m. in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 18, 2014.
