Martha Frieda Howell

Martha Frieda Howell, 89, of Port Clinton, OH, passed away, Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. Frieda was born on August 03, 1926 in Bay Township, OH, the daughter of Fred and Martha J. (Behnke) Hansen. On March 11, 1944 in Port Clinton, OH, she married Omer F. Howell and he preceded her in death on October 02, 2014. Frieda worked as a teletype operator for 20 plus years at the Erie Army Depot and was a beautician who worked out of her home from 1968 to 1980. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and the Priscilla Circle at the church. Frieda was instrumental in coordinating and starting “The Gathering” dinner at the church. She was a long time member of the Erie Twp. Mother’s Club. Frieda enjoyed needlework, cross stitching, flowers, gardening, fishing and cooking. She especially loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. Frieda will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. Survivors include: Daughter: Rosan Allen of Palm Bay, FL; Son: Kenneth (Vi) Howell of Port Clinton; Daughter-in-Law: Patricia Howell of Port Clinton; Sister: Erma Johnson of Canadian Lakes, MI; 9 Grandchildren; 12 Great-Grandchildren and 3 Great-Great-Grandchildren. Frieda was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son: Jack Howell and infant brother: Alfred. Visitation will be 2-6PM, Sunday, October 25, 2015 at Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, Port Clinton, OH. Funeral service will be conducted at 11:00AM, Monday, October 26, 2015 at St. John Lutheran Church, Port Clinton, OH. Interment will be in LaCarpe Cemetery, Lacarne, OH. Memorial donations in memory of Frieda may be given to St, John Lutheran Church 207 Adams Street, Port Clinton, OH 43452
