Martha Baluck

June 25, 1941 — July 7, 2025

Martha Baluck, born Martha Morris on June 25, 1941, in Miami, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025, in Perrysburg, Ohio, at the age of 84.

Martha was a woman of remarkable spirit. She graduated as valedictorian from Greenford High School in 1958 and went on to attend Mount Union College, laying the foundation for a life marked by perseverance and resilience. Her sharp mind was matched only by her vibrant personality—those who knew her will remember her unmistakable laugh that could light up any room.

Throughout her life, Martha was devoted to her family. She was the beloved mother of three daughters: Lisa Drennen (Brad), Debra Meredith (David), and Julie Thomas (Sean). Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Zachary Drennen (Melissa), Courtney Richards (Nathan), Kyle Drennen, Stephen Baytos, Sydney Baytos, Hannah Thomas, and Andrew Thomas. Her grandchildren have fond memories of their weeklong stay with Nana every summer and cherish visits with her to Chuck E. Cheese, the movie theater and Chick-fil-A. She is also survived by 9 great grandchildren.

Martha experienced both love and loss in her lifetime. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles F. Heck, and later by her second husband, Gerald R. Baluck. She also mourned the loss of granddaughter Emily Baytos, her parents, Ella Lavinna Morris and George Henry Morris as well as her sisters, Margaret Zimmerman and Helen Brown.

Following the passing of her first husband, Chuck, Martha took over as president of Heck Insulation, their joint venture. Throughout her life she started and ran several other businesses including Bal-Mar Builders and Marty’s Convenient Mart with her second husband Jerry. She also worked as an office manager for several local businesses.

Martha was an active member of her Lord of Life Lutheran Church community serving in roles such as youth group leader, Sunday school teacher and as a member of the church council.

Known affectionately as "Marty" to her friends, she brought warmth and joy into the lives of those around her. Her laughter remains a treasured memory for all who had the privilege of knowing her.

The family wishes to express their gratitude for the incredible staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, for their outstanding care, love and compassion.

May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held on July 12, 2025, at 9:00 AM with the funeral service at 10:00 AM at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 550 N. Broad Street in Canfield, Ohio. The service will be immediately followed by entombment at Green Haven Memorial Gardens.
