Marshall Alton Bennett

September 1, 1927 — March 11, 2012

Marshall Alton Bennett passed peacefully on Sunday afternoon, holding the hand of his beloved wife Irma, with whom he has been married for sixty-three years. Marshall affectionately referred to Irma as his Mumsey.An avid golfer, Marshall was a member of the Inverness and Highland Meadows golf clubs, where in season he would be seen on the golf course or practice range almost every day. He loved teaching his children how to play the game and spending time with them playing 9 holes after dinner. He was also an accomplished bowler, once rolling a perfect Three Hundred game.Before retiring, Marshall was the owner and operator of the Bennett Funeral Home, a family owned funeral home that served Toledo families since the 1850s. Marshall took great pride in being able to help families during times of need.Marshall was a Mason and a Shriner, and was also active in the Toledo Rotary and the Junior Chamber of Commerce. He was a dog lover and looked forward to being reunited with his best four-legged friend Buffer.Marshall is survived by his loving wife Irma, his daughter Victoria and her husband Jeff Haidet, his son Marshall and his wife Pamela Bennett, and three grandchildren, Brian Haidet, Natalie Bennett, and Nicole Bennett and her fianc Jason Melton. They will celebrate Marshalls life as the close family they have always been.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider contributions to the Life Care Fund of the Sunset Retirement Communities, 4040 Indian Road, Toledo, Ohio 43606, or to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 800 S.
