Marsha Ann Vandemark, of Williston, Ohio, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2025, at the Luther Home of Mercy in Williston, Ohio where she had been a resident for over 50 years. She was born on May 9, 1951, in Lima, Ohio, where she grew up on a dairy farm. Though she had several physical and mental limitations, her parents still wanted to give their daughter the full farm girl experience. She was affectionately known by her mother as “Little Lovebug”. She grew up loving Aryshire cows, kittens, puppies, and chickens. She would spend as much time as possible walking in front of the feeding manger watching the cows eat grain. She loved any animal that would sit on her lap with the most recent animal being Larry and Sharon’s dog, Lainey. Marsha Ann had a strong sweet tooth and loved all her happy foods such as candy, pie, popcorn, coke and ice cream floats. She enjoyed listening to church hymns and watching television especially shows that had animals in them.
She moved into the Luther Home of Mercy at the age of 21. The LHM staff and residents became her family, and the love and care provided to her was evident after nearly 54 years of their meeting Marsha’s needs. Marsha had a very sweet soul. While it might not have always been the easiest to get her to smile, and it was sometimes difficult to feed her when she would clamp her mouth shut because she didn’t want to eat. The twinkle in her blue eyes and her special looks (often given when she was not happy about something) will undoubtedly be missed by so many.
The family would like to grant a special prayer of thanks and gratitude to Luther Home of Mercy in Williston, Ohio, for their personal care and love that they provided Marsha. They are truly a special group of people.
Marsha Ann is survived by her siblings, Debra K. (Craig) Salhoff of Hagerstown, IN, Keaton D. (Janie) Vandemark of Spring Hope, NC, Larry K. (Sharon) Vandemark of Elida, OH; nieces, Beth Hamman, Jill Lewis; nephews, Trevor, Tyler, & Dean Vandemark, Shawn, Jared, & Jeffrey Vandemark; as well as 21 great nieces and nephews.
