Marna Rose Freimark

Marna Rose Freimark crossed over the heavenly bridge to be with her Lord and Savior on August 29, 2026 after a brief illness. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her husband and family. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Gerldine Saffell. She is survived by her husband of 71 years and their three children, Thomas (Judy), Susan, and James (Deb). She loved spending time with her five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Marna Rose Hopfinger was born in Oak Harbor, Ohio on January 7, 1933 to Frank and Magdeline (Hermes) Hopfinger. Marnie, as she was known, graduated from Oak Harbor High School in the class of 1951. Over the years she was active on the class planning committee, where she recently organized and attended their 75th reunion.

Marnie met her husband, Glen, in high school; he, a star football player, and she, a beautiful cheerleader. In 1955 she married her high school sweetheart in Angola Indiana. Last year, they were blessed to celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary. She loved dancing with Glen and they would often be the last on the dance floor, as winners of an oldest couple dance contest. Together, they enjoyed traveling the country in their motorhome for many years. They recently traveled to Nebraska to visit her grandchildren and great grandchildren, which brought them both great joy.

Marnie began her career in retail at the Lamson's department store and later Lorretta Joyce dress shop. She then worked in the Finance and Utilities department with the City of Maumee, where she made many lifelong friends with Maumee residents before retiring after 26 years.

Those who knew Marnie will remember her as an active, strong, and supportive soul who rarely missed an occasion to gather with friends and family. She loved to play cards, especially pinochle, euchre, and bunco, and was always the first to suggest to "get the cards out and play a game". She never lost her love of gardening and spent as much time as she could outside tending to her beautiful flower garden.

Marnie had a great love for her Lord and Savior. She was a devote Christian, attending and actively serving the congregation of St Paul's Lutheran Church in Maumee.

Visitation will be held at Maison Dardenne Walker Funeral Home in Maumee on Thursday, September 3, 2026 from 2-7 PM. A memorial service will be held on the morning of Friday September 4, 2026 at 11AM at St. Paul's Lutheran church in Maumee. The family invites you to join them for a luncheon and celebration of life, following the memorial service, in the church Fellowship Hall.
