Marlene Myrna Oerting, 81, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2024. She was beloved by all who knew her. Marlene was born July 23, 1942, in Toledo, Ohio to Elmer and Eloise Querin and was the loving wife of Phil Oerting. She grew up in Toledo, attending DeVilbiss and Macomber-Whitney High schools.
Marlene was an active church member her entire life, initially at Calvary United Methodist Church in Toledo, Ohio and then at Christ United Methodist Church in Oregon, Ohio. She was involved in many activities at church including the church choir and hand bells, the Feed Your Neighbor program, the afterschool children’s tutoring program, and Vacation Bible School.
Marlene and Phil enjoyed traveling and camping for family vacations. They visited many National Parks in the US and Canada, including driving to Denali National Park in Alaska. They also loved the islands of Hawaii and spent several winters camping in their VW camper at a church camp on the beach along the North Shore of Oahu.
Marlene was blessed with many wonderful friends from her church community, her work at Owens Corning, and her neighborhood. She greatly enjoyed playing games, eating ice cream, and sharing many laughs with her friends.
The family wishes to thank all the healthcare providers who have helped with her care through the past few years.
God bless her as she now rests peacefully in Heaven.
She is survived by her two children who adored her, Kimberly (Paul) Meneilly and Tim (Nikki) Oerting, and her brother Darrell. She was a loving grandmother to Kaylin, Matthew, Gavin, and Eric who will miss her immensely. She also loved spending time with her nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. on Friday, May 24, 2024, from 11:00 am until the time of the service at 2:00 pm. Private interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park for family. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Christ United Methodist Church, the Feed Your Neighbor program, or to a charity of your choice.
