Marlene Ruth Mchenney

August 25, 1935 — August 3, 2022

Marlene Ruth (Wallace) McHenney went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 3, 2022. Marlene was born on August 25, 1935, in Van Wert, Ohio, to Sherman and Ethel Wallace. She graduated from Ohio City Liberty High School in 1953. In early adult years she worked as a secretary. In 1958 she married John (Jack) McHenney; together they lived in Fort Wayne, Indiana, for twenty-five years before moving to Naperville, Illinois, where they lived for seventeen years. Marlene and Jack’s church homes over the years included Blackhawk Baptist Church of Fort Wayne, Naperville Baptist Church of Naperville, and Christ the Word Church of Sylvania. In 1999 Marlene and Jack moved to Van Wert, Ohio and in 2003 they moved to Waterville, Ohio, where she and Jack lived for nineteen years surrounded by grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved her. Marlene and Jack would have celebrated their 64 th anniversary on August 24, 2022. Jack was a faithful and loving husband to Marlene, caring tenderly for her until the day she died.
Marlene is survived by her son, Mark McHenney (Sandi) of Wheaton, IL, and her daughter, Cheryl Bayly(David) of Waterville, OH. Grandchildren by Mark and Sandi are Rebecca (Rohen) Shah of Chicago, John McHenney of Wheaton and Daniel McHenney, also of Wheaton. Grandchildren by Cheryl and David are Nathan (Aleaha) Bayly of Waterville, OH, Elizabeth (Jonathan) Rethorn of Waterville, Benjamin (Audrey) Bayly of Waterville, Tessa Bayly of Waterville and Isaiah Bayly of Waterville. Marlene’s great grandchildren include Micaiah Bayly, Nate Bayly, Rahab Rethorn, Esther Rethorn, Levi Bayly, Judson Bayly, Zipporah Rethorn, Flynn Bayly, Luzia Bayly, Lazarus Rethorn, Mordecai Rethorn, Jack Bayly, Noah Bayly, Cyprus Rethorn, Job Rethorn Melina Bayly and Gabriel Bayly. Other survivors include sister Phyllis Ann Koch of Elida, OH, and numerous nieces and nephews. A sister, Naomi Moore, and brother, David Wallace, preceded her in death.

Visitation will take place Sunday, August 7, 2022, from 4-6 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Avenue, Toledo, OH 43623. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Monday, August 8, 2022, at 10 a.m., where a Funeral Service will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Wakeman Cemetery, Waterville, OH.
