Marlaine L. Schmidlin, 67, of Genoa, died Monday afternoon, July 24, 2017, at The Grove at Oakleaf Village Tree in Toledo. Marlaine was born August 12, 1949, in Toledo, Ohio, to Donald and C. Joyce (Swartzlander) Lusk. She married David L. Schmidlin in Genoa on January 11, 1969, and he survives her. For 33 years Marlaine worked in sales at K-Mart in Oregon retiring in 2003. She was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ in Genoa and enjoyed reading, traveling, and taking wine trips with close friends. She loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Dave, Marlaine is survived by her son, Matthew (Daveda) Schmidlin of Poplar Grove, IL and daughter, Sarah (John) Smith of Alexandria, KY; grandchildren, Christopher, Shane, and Chase Schmidlin, Jordan, Lynndsay, and Zane Smith; great grandchildren, Jackson, Zayden, Minah and Chevelle Schmidlin; and her sisters, Sheila (Tom) Boehler and Connie Spitler, both of Genoa. Her parents preceded her in death. Visitation for Marlaine will be 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, July 26, 2017, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa. The funeral service will be conducted 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 27, 2017, at St. Johns United Church of Christ, 1213 Washington St., Genoa, OH 43430. In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorials for Marlaine to go to St. Johns or the Alzheimers Association, 2500 N. Reynolds Rd., Toledo, OH 43615.
