Mark K. Thistlethwaite, 76, claimed the victory from his battle with Parkinsons disease as he walked into the arms of his Savior on October 13, 2014 surrounded by his family. Mark was born September 23, 1938 to Richard and Pauline Thistlethwaite in Richmond, IN where he developed a strong love for the outdoors at an early age. He was a graduate of Richmond High School. He had an easy going spirit and was hardworking in all aspects of his life. As a young man, he supported his mother and sister as his father recovered from tuberculosis. Mark was a leader in the commercial door and hardware industry for fifty years, having the vision to develop trend setting systems. He taught the trade to his son, daughter, and son-in-law, and made lifelong friendships along the way. Mark most loved planning the next hunting or fishing trip, teaching his passion to his sons and grandsons. Until the end, he continued to plan the next adventure for family and friends. He was passionate about taking his family on vacation every year, teaching his children the value of stepping away from hard work to unwind. He met his lifelong love, Sherrill Crisp, on a blind date. They were married on June 25, 1961, which was the anniversary of her parents and grandparents. He was passionate for Sherrill until the end. Mark raised his family being members of Central Christian Church and Boulevard Church of Christ. In addition to his beloved wife Sherrill, Mark is survived by his children, Teresa (Mike) Fisher, Julie (Mike) Tanner, Brett (Cheryl) Thistlethwaite, and Craig (Kim) Thistlethwaite; grandchildren, Airman Staff Sergeant Kurtis, Andrea, Natalie, Eric Bubba Mark, Damon, Katie, Caleb, Luke, Ryan, Lauren, Erin Bailey Jane, Mitchell, Cohen, and Jackson; sister, Sue (Jim) Cook; special cousin, Larry Schuerman uncle cousin Larry and four nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday, October 17, 2014 from 1-8:00pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) where visitation will also be held Saturday from 9:00am until the time of service at 10:00am.
