Mark S. Tarolli , born November 15, 1954, passed away on Sunday July 26, 2026 after battling many years of mental illness.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Gloria Tarolli. He is survived by his sisters Janis (Michael) Kerul, Gail (Dave) Bertz and brothers Gary, Jerry (Natalie) and Roger (Shelly) Tarolli as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mark was an outstanding athlete at Port Clinton High School, receiving numerous accolades in basketball and baseball. Typical headlines from his playing days were common and numerous, i.e.; Perkins No match for Tarolli; Tarolli wins game with 25 Footer, Tarolli's 26-Footer Saves PC
When Mark was a Senior in high school, he was named to The Toledo Blade All Star Team - First Team, In 1972-73, Port Clinton was in the GLL (Great lakes League), the smallest team in the conference, yet Mark was voted to the G.L.L. All-League - First Team and was the league's leading scorer, an outstanding feat considering the team's dismal win-loss record. Mark was also the NW Ohio Co-Player of the Year. Mark also earned 3 Varsity Baseball letters as a pitcher and 1st baseman.
During his senior year in high school, receiving scholarship letters from colleges and universities, including the Ivy Leagues, was a daily occurrence. Mark elected to attend Muskingum College in New Concord, OH as an outstanding varsity player on both the basketball and baseball teams.
After earning his Bachelor's Degree in business, Mark went on to being recognized as Rookie of the Year at his branch at Mutual of New York.
Mark also received a Letter of Commendation from the Department of the Navy for his contributions as an Accounting Technician at Navy Recruiting Area Four.
Despite his challenges over the years, his love of his family never wavered.
Friends and family are invited to gather from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 3, 2026, at Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home, 216 Washington St., Port Clinton, Ohio. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 414 Madison St., Port Clinton, Ohio, at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Port Clinton.
Memorial donations in Mark's honor may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the National Alliance on Mental Illness (Donate to NAMI).
