Mark B. Alper, 79, of Perrysburg, formally of Canton, Ohio passed away Sunday, April 3, 2022, at Perrysburg Mercy Health. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Linda (Rodgers) Alper; daughters, Melissa (Anthony) Burek and Ashley Alper-Roberts; granddaughter Samantha; brother-in-law, Mark (Amy) Rodgers; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, Greg Rodgers.
Mark was born on July 20, 1942, in Canton, Ohio to Norman and Bettie (Brown) Alper. He graduated from Lehman High School in 1960 and the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1964 where he was a member of Pi Lambda Phi Fraternity. A long-time resident of Canton, he was a member of Temple Israel; a Mason for over 50 years; and a member of Arrowhead Country Club.
He was also a practicing pharmacist for over 50 years, beginning his career at his father’s drugstore, Norman’s and later retired from Rite Aid. After retirement, he spent a few years as a realtor for Danberry Realtors in Perrysburg. Though he was an incredibly hard worker, he enjoyed spending his free time golfing and watching Cleveland sports.
A private service will take place for immediate family and a public Celebration of Life for family and friends will take place on Monday, April 18 at Burntwood Tavern (4320 Everhard Rd. NW, Canton, OH) from 1-3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in "Memory of Mark Alper" to option of your choice: the Grand Lodge of Ohio Free and Accepted Masons, Temple Israel Canton, or to the ASPCA.
