December 4, 1931 — September 9, 2008

Marjorie A. Wood, nee Hawkinson, age 76 of Toledo died Tuesday after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Mrs. Wood was a graduate of Waite High School 1950 and Bowling Green State University 1954 where she was a member of Kappa Delta sorority and the BGSU sailing team. She devoted many years of volunteer service to community organizations: Welcome Wagon, Beach House, North Toledo Community House, Toledo Mental Hospital Auxiliary, Rainbow Girls, Fairfield Elementary School as a reading helper and Maumee High School Band Parents. A fitness enthusiast, she was a member and supporter of the Southwest-Wolf Creek YMCA for the past 20 years, which she attended four days a week until her illness. Her high school yearbook stated, A popular miss is she and she was loved by many throughout the years who considered her a friend and surrogate mother. She is survived by daughters Pegeen Paul Wood Bodine of Chicago, IL, Patricia Kenneth Wood Winn of Chicago, IL; son, Philip Lowell Wood, Jr. of Toledo; grandson, Philip Kenneth Winn; devoted Labrador retriever Murphy Brown; sister-in-law Loris Wood Cowan of Wilmington, DE; nieces, Lorilee Clifford Weier of Eastlake, Ohio, Wendy Mike Massey of Wilmington, DE and nephew, John Diane Caris of Milwaukee, WI. Preceded in death by husband, Philip L Wood, Sr., parents Walter and Eileen Beattie Hawkinson and brother, William Hawkinson. Family and friends may visit on Saturday, September 13, 2008 from 12-2 PM in the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee.
