Marjorie A. Schanke, 92, of Williston, Ohio, died Monday morning, April 1, 2013, at H.B. Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton, Ohio. She was born May 30, 1920, in Jerusalem Township to Curtis and Gertrude Martin Perry and was a 1938 graduate of Clay High School. On May 14, 1943, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Blackberry she married Leonard E. Schanke, who preceded her in death during the blizzard of 1978. Marjorie was a homemaker and also worked at the former Lowes Red & White in Williston, Ohio, and in housekeeping at the Luther Home of Mercy. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Martin. She enjoyed fishing, playing cards, dancing at the former Gulish Village, and in her later years, bird watching became one of her hobbies. Marjorie is survived by her son, Larry Karen L. Schanke of Graytown, grandchildren Mark and Beth, sister, Jeannette Hall of Illinois and sister-in-law, Jane Perry of Curtice. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, Florence Didion, Lillian Jodry, Ada Hartman and Virginia Lederman, brothers, Raymond, Martin, Leroy, Edgar, James and Harvey Perry. Visitation will be Friday, April 5, 2013, from 10-11:00 a.m., one hour prior to the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 17877 W. St. Rt. 579, Martin, OH 43445. Interment will follow in Elliston Cemetery, Graytown. Memorials for Marjorie may be directed to St. Peter Lutheran Church. The Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory of Genoa has assisted the family with arrangements. The family would like to thank the staff at Riverview Healthcare Campus in Oak Harbor for their loving care for the past three years and the physicians and nurses at Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton.
