Marjorie Alice Rothenbuhler Ranes, age 85, of Toledo, Ohio passed away unexpectedly at UTMC Hospital on Saturday January 25, 2014. Margie was born on the 4th of July 1928 in Chicago, Illinois to Charles and Helen Richards Rothenbuhler. Her dad always told her the 4th of July fireworks were just for her birthday celebration. Margie graduated in 1946 from Harriet Whitney Vocational School with a business degree. This led her to become president of Toledo Credit Women, which took her to conventions all over the United States, even Hawaii. She worked while raising her sons -when it wasnt the conventional thing to do - she was a career women ahead of her time. She worked many jobs starting in the mid 40s as a book keeper/accountant. Margie then obtained her real estate license in 1977 and continued working into her late 70s. She retired from Danberry reality in 2006. She loved traveling with family- Chicago , Denver, Smokey Mountains, Switzerland, England, and Italy. Margie made every holiday a special occasion for family and friends and all were welcome. She enjoyed making butterscotch pies, cookies and fudge. Margie loved and took pride in her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Harry Alan and her granddaughter, Beth Jane. Margie leaves 2 sons to cherish her memory, Danny Susan and Dennis Joan; five grandchildren, Shannon Greg Cox of Denver, Sean Connie Ranes, Jennifer Skadeland, Dennis Nicole Ranes and Christine Berger; 15 great grandchildren; sister, Betty South of Florida, brothers, Donald Fran Rothenbuhler of Maumee, Macklin Ann Rothenbuhler of New York. Family and friends may visit Wednesday January 29, 2014 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, Ohio 43537 where funeral services will be held on Thursday January 30, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Following her loving, generous, giving nature the family asks in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the food ministry at Maumee United Methodist Church, 405 Sackett Street, Maumee, Ohio 43537.
