Marjorie J. Ganchou

Marjorie J. Ganchou, age 94, of Toledo, Ohio died Monday, December 31, 2012 at Spring Meadows Extended Care Center in Holland. She was born June 12, 1918 in Sandusky, Ohio to Irving S. and Lucille (Guenther) Patterson and on July 20, 1940 she married Bernard J. Ganchou who preceded her in death on February 24, 1996. Marjorie prided herself as a member of the first graduating class of Holland High School. She was employed as a Mail Clerk for National Family Opinion for 14 years before retiring in 1978. Marjorie was a member of Living Faith Methodist Church in Holland. She also served as a former PTA President at Newbury Elementary School and was a Group Leader for the Friendly Indians, a girls group at the YMCA. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra M. Cunningham; son, Gary G. (Gloriana) Ganchou; grandchildren, Brian S. (Carla) Cunningham, Julie A. Cunningham, Stacie M. Scharer, Jamey B. Ganchou and Chad M. (Penny) Ganchou; great grandchildren, Megan Cunningham, Alexis Scharer, Nicholas Scharer, Joseph Ganchou and Thomas Ganchou as well as her special friend, Louis A. Haas. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, Irving and Lucille; step mother, Mary Patterson; husband, Bernard as well as her sisters, Violet Provost and Winnifred Irwin. Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 2-9:00 P.M. in Neville Funeral Home, Southwest Chapel, 7438 Airport Highway in Holland (419-865-8879) where funeral services will be held on Friday, January 4, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. with Pastor Amy Miller, officiating. Burial will follow in Toledo Memorial Park. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider either Living Faith Methodist Church or the Toledo Area Humane Center.
