Marjorie H. Billens

Marjorie H. Billens, 93 was born October 21, 1921 to Lemuel Ruth Skinner Hamilton. After her mother’s death in 1929, Alice (Riblet) Hamilton became her beloved stepmother. She was raised in Erie, Pa. and graduated from the Western Reserve University in Cleveland with a teaching degree. There she met and married William F. Billens in 1943. In 1966 Bill’s work transferred the family to Catawba Island. After raising her family, Marge went back to college and got her Masters in Library Science from Toledo University and Bowling Green University. She then worked and retired from the Margaretta School system. Marge loved life. Her world was full of Optimism , laughter, cats music. You could always get her to dance playing her favorite artist, Michael Jackson. She was an avid reader, traveler, quilter, loved history, played cards and was always ready for a party. She loved a house full of people and was always ready to spend time with her close friends. Her love of humor was apparent all the way to the end. However, her greatest joy in life were her loving daughters and her grandchildren. Marge was a member of the Trinity Methodist Church, Friends of the Library, Friends of PBS, Lake Erie Islands Historical Society and Paradise Quilters. She had previously resided at the Vineyard on Catawba, where she enjoyed the activities and loved the wildlife which provided inspiration for her quilting. She is survived by daughters; Valerie Crow of Temperance, Mi. , Susie Cooper of Big Pine Key, FL, Lisa (Jack) Norden of Port Clinton, Barbara Billens of Palm Beach Gardens, FL., Carole Billens of Pensacola, FL. Grandchildren; Allison Norden of Marblehead, David (Sarahann ) Tiner of Midland, MI. and Elizabeth Norden of Sandusky. Great Grandson Jacob Tiner; Brother Larry Hamilton; Cousin Virginia Fratalia both of PA., and several nieces. Marge was predeceased by her husband Bill, daughter Sheila, grandsons Jacob Tiner and James Fether and a brother Donald Hamilton. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to the Ottawa Co. Humane Society or the Ida Rupp Public Library. Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, Port Clinton, OH, is assisting the family with arrangements.
