Marilyn M. Wandtke

Marilyn Margaret Wandtke, age 85, of Perrysburg, Ohio, passed away suddenly at home, Wednesday, August 5, 2015. She was born August 1, 1930 in Weston, West Virginia to Harvey and Anna (Coyle) Leafgreen. Marilyn married John “Dave” Wandtke on May 20, 1950 and shared 53 wonderful years until his death, May 12, 2003. Marilyn was so loved by her family. She was our cheerleader, best friend, confidant, and our own very special mother and grandmother. She especially loved animals. Her companions were Lily, a rescued mini Dachshund and Dixie, an adopted Yorkie. Marilyn was a graduate of Woodward High School and The University of Toledo with a degree in nursing. She worked as a Med-Surg nurse at Maumee Valley Hospital and made the move with the staff to the then new Medical College Hospital. After she retired, she traveled the world with her husband. She also loved to cook, visit casinos, and argue politics. Our family always loved to laugh together and Mom made us a close and loving family. Marilyn is survived by her children: sons, Steven Wandtke (Perrysburg, OH) and Michael Wandtke (LaPlaya Coronado, Panama) daughters, Stacey (Jim) Laubacher (Oak Harbor, OH) and Susan (Gene) Benedict; granddaughters, Samantha Wandtke (Cleveland, OH), Stephanie (Jacob Czerniejewski) Wandtke, (Denver, CO), RaighAnn Jackson (Bowling Green, OH), Meghan Wandtke and Nicole Wandtke (Bowling Green, OH) She was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Kimberly Glenn; and grandson, Chad Wandtke. Friends will be received Sunday, August 9, 2015 from 2-8 P.M. at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg (419-874-3133) where funeral services will be held Monday, August 10, 2015 at 11 A.M. Burial will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
